Superintendent

Duties

The Superintendent is expected to be the chief executive officer and provide professional and education leadership to the school district. The school district is comprised of a K-4 location and a 5-8 location, with an average of 215 students.

  • Keeps students at the center of decision-making and maintains high expectations for their academic, social, and emotional growth.
  • Establishing and communicating a clear vision for the District.
  • Leading the development and implementation of district goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Providing instructional leadership focused on student achievement and continuous improvement.
  • Is an accomplished instructional leader with a strong understanding of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and the effective use of Professional Learning Communities to support collaboration and student achievement. 
  • Values and supports excellent teachers and staff and builds a professional culture of trust, collaboration, and growth.
  • Is visible, accessible, and comfortable being personally connected to students, employees, families, and community members.
  • Builds productive relationships with the Board of Education and understands the respective roles of the Board and superintendent.
  • Communicates clearly, listens carefully, and develops trust with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment in school finance, personnel, facilities, and district operations.
  • Leads with integrity and balance, respecting the District's traditions and strengths while pursuing thoughtful improvement.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a valid Illinois Professional Educator License with the Superintendent endorsement, or eligibility for the appropriate Illinois superintendent licensure.

Candidates will be evaluated on their professional merits and successful experience that demonstrates congruence with the following criteria set forth by the Board of Education:

  • Acts with the highest level of moral and ethical character at all times.
  • Ensures management of the district in a safe and efficient manner that promotes a vibrant educational environment.
  • Has proven abilities to serve as an effective leader and communicator of all stakeholders.
  • Has the ability to work with and communicate complex curricular, financial and regulatory information.
  • Promotes a vision for the district that encompasses all stakeholders that is both inclusive and forward looking.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change while maintaining trust and collaboration.

 

Salary/Benefits

The salary package will be regionally competitive and determined by professional preparation and experience in the field of education.

Additional Notes

School district is comprised of two locations. K-4 located at 14975 E Bakerville Rd, Mt. Vernon. 5-8 located at 511 S Elm St, Ina.
