Duties
The School Psychologist or Educational Diagnostician works for the member districts of the South Macoupin Association for Special Education. This position reports directly to the Director and Supervisors of Special Education.
Responsibilities and Performance Expectations include:
- Gather and analyze data and observations for students who have been referred for special education services
- Coordinate and hold domains reviews for special education evaluations
- Select and conduct assessments appropriately
- Report assessment data in a clear, concise and thorough manner.
- Interpret assessment and MTSS data in order to recommend special education eligibility
- Provide consultation to staff regarding assessment, MTSS and interpretation of results
- Work with MTSS staff in order to provide recommendations for interventions and/or data interpretation
- Demonstrate collaborative problem solving in a positive manner with all members of the educational team
- Follow policies and procedures of the cooperative
- Know and follow all aspects of school law as it relates to the profession
Qualifications
Professional Educator's License with School Psychologist Endorsement, or other Special Education Related endorsement. Background in psychology is preferred.

The South Macoupin Association for Special Education (SMASE) serves the Staunton, Gillespie and Mt. Olive school districts. We are located approximately 20 minutes north of Edwardsville, 50 minutes south of Springfield, and 45 minutes from St. Louis.
