Duties
TITLE: BEHAVIOR SUPPORT SPECIALIST QUALIFICATIONS: Professional Educator License Preferred CPI Certification Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Special Education, or related field Demonstrated ability to communicate with students, teachers, parents, and administrators 3+ years of experience with children and behavior management Evidence of strong communication and collaborative skills Experience and training with research-based behavioral interventions REPORTS TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL ________________________________________ JOB GOAL: To support positive change in student behavior through the direct support and guidance of students, staff, and families. Performance Responsibilities: ? Provide support to behaviorally challenged students through small group or one-to-one intervention; ? Intervene in occurrences of inappropriate behavior of students for the purpose of assisting students and modifying such behavior and developing successful interpersonal skills; ? Provide assistance with de-escalating student behaviors with reintegration back into the classroom or an alternate environment; ? Respond to discipline incidents and crisis situations as needed; ? Conduct conflict resolution and peer mediation sessions; ? Collaborate with the principal to conduct re-entry meetings on students who have been suspended, and as appropriate develop intervention plans involving instruction of expected behaviors; ? Demonstrate and model PBIS “best practices” with identified classrooms; ? Actively participate in Problem Solving Team (PST), Tier 2/3 intervention planning, or other meetings such as 504 or IEP; ? Train staff and families on current trends, trauma informed practices, and evidence-based practices as they relate to positive and effective behavior support and interventions; ? Provide guidance and coaching to school staff on behavioral support, including but not limited to classroom management, function of behavior, and interventions; ? Review behavior reports and documentation for accuracy, and identify key trends to recommend changes in practice, support, or interventions; ? Effectively communicate with all stakeholders and document appropriately; ? Other related duties as assigned. ________________________________________ TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten Months (200 Days) position with salary and hours to be established by the Board of Education. EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions established by the Board of Education. Salary/Benefits
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten Months (200 Days) position with salary and hours to be established by the Board of Education.
