Duties
Assists teacher with classroom activities to ensure academic and behavioral functioning of students, and maintains professional boundaries and demeanor. This position will work within the school program serving special education youth. The ideal staff member not only understands the particular challenges experienced by a special education student, but also has a particular affinity for working with special education students. A one on one aide provides assistance to an assigned student on a daily basis, with extensive interaction. A one on one aide is an integral part of a student's instructional team and works with classroom teacher to provide academic and behavior support to assigned student. 32.5 hrs/week.
Qualifications
Paraprofessional Certificate is required at the time of application. Classroom experience strongly preferred, practical experience working with children. Strong interpersonal skills, maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences in students, staff, and families served; effective oral and written communication skills; ability to work within treatment team; ability to handle job related matters in a professional, diplomatic and confidential manner. Hearing and speaking ability which allows for effective oral communication of information;
