Duties

•Deliver Art instruction through project-based learning •Implement the district’s common art curriculum •Organize, develop and coordinate special art activities/events •Budget and order necessary art supplies to support the art program •Provide and coordinate parent programs that support student achievement •Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects using formal and informal methods of assessment •Use identified needs to guide the learning process toward student mastery of the National Core Art Standards •Collaborate with appropriate personnel regarding students who may need specialized interventions •Use technology to promote learning, creativity and collaboration •Strive to maintain and improve professional competencies through professional development activities •Attend district level meetings •Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy, administrative guidelines or specific program requirements •Maintain high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information •Attend team/parent meetings as required; provide input to teams regarding student strengths and weaknesses •Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities, as may be assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

Illinois teaching licensure with Elementary Art Endorsement •Strong knowledge and background in Art content •Through understanding of the National Core Art Standards http://nationalartsstandards.org •Ability to work as a member of a team •Evidence of productive experience with the visual arts •Evidence of planning, organization and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position •Strong communication skills (oral and written) •Thorough understanding of technology •Thorough understanding of the developmental progression of children’s inquiry skills •Strong knowledge of formative and summative assessment of learning •Proven ability to collaborate with teachers regarding student learning
