Duties
The Assistant Principal at Morris Community High School is responsible for the student discipline process, overseeing attendance, and maintaining a safe school environment for the 900 students who attend MCHS. The ability to establish positive working relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, and fellow administrators is critical.
- Providing support to teachers in enforcing school-wide expectations is necessary to establish and maintain a positive school culture.
- The Assistant Principal also has oversight of non-athletic co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
- Additionally, the Assistant Principal conducts some of the teacher evaluations, oversees the credit recovery process, and is an integral part of the student services team.
- Other duties include supporting the Principal with curriculum and instruction, supervising after-school, evening, and weekend events, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The selected candidate must have a Professional Educator License with administrative licensure in Illinois and have or be willing to complete the required certification to evaluate teachers in Illinois.
Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential to the position.
Previous classroom teaching experience is required. Previous administrative experience is a plus but not required.
Salary/Benefits
It is anticipated that the salary will be between $75,000 and $100,000 depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience. The position could be for ten or eleven months, depending on the duties that are assigned.
In addition to the base salary, the Board pays the required TRS contribution on behalf of the employee, as well as $14,100 toward health insurance. The candidate must take at least single coverage, with any remaining balance paid to the employee as salary.
Additional Notes
Morris Community High School is the only school in the District. The opportunity exists for administrative positions to be restructured in the next few years due to retirements and the changing needs of the District. The selected candidate's skills, knowledge, and experiences will help guide that process in the years ahead.
