Duties
The Pawnee school district is seeking highly qualified general music applicants for the 2022-2023 school year. Duties may include teaching K-6 General Music, Junior High Chorus, and High School Show Choir. Several extra-curricular opportunities exist.
Qualifications
Candidate must hold a valid Illinois Secondary Teaching Certificate with proper endorsements or like certification through the ROE.
Salary/Benefits
The 2022/2023 starting salary for a BS with no experience is $46,804 (including TRS).
Additional Notes
The music teacher will foster a love of music for all students. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following: • Ability to work with all students K-12 • Ability to build a good foundation with younger students that develops into a strong program in junior high and high school • Background in choreography, dance, and theater strongly desired • Ability to play the piano proficiently • Knowledge of sound equipment • Basic knowledge of set designing and repairing sets • Basic knowledge of technology used in developing programs, tickets, and flyers used for programs Overview of Current Programs: • General weekly music instruction for K-6, Junior High Chorus & Show Choir, and possible music theory at the advanced level, if the schedule allows • Treble Makers (meet weekly after school) • Fall Chorus Concert (Treble Makers, Jr. High & Show Choir) • Fall Veteran’s Day Assembly • Band and Chorus Winter Concert (Treble Makers, Jr. High & Show Choir) • Elementary Christmas Program, K-6 • Jr. High Performance at Eastland • Show Choir Performance at Eastland • Jr. High Contest • High School Contest • March Chorus Concert (Treble Makers, Jr. High & Show Choir) • High School Musical • Bradley Honor Choir (select HS students) • Elementary Open House Performance (K, 1st & 2nd) • Spring Chorus Concert (Treble Makers, Jr. High & Show Choir) • 5th Grade History Musical • 3rd Grade Mini-Musical • Rehearsals for National Anthem singers for Community celebrations
