Works with students in all phases of the college selection and admissions process including, but not limited to, researching colleges, creating and refining a list of colleges that are a good fit academically, socially, and financially; assisting students through the application process; essay writing, interview skills, and standardized testing.  

Maintains an awareness of constantly changing issues and trends in college admissions. 

Provides updated college related information to students, parents, and faculty and works collaboratively with administration and school counselors


• Working knowledge of the Illinois Developmental Counseling Model. • Experienced with needs of high school age students and their families. • Engaging interpersonal skills and strong communication skills. • Enthusiastic, energetic, and flexible. • Effective working with groups. • Thorough knowledge of counseling theory and practice. • Familiar with Administrator’s Plus, Naviance, Plus Portals, internet and software counseling resources. • Collaborative working style and strong work ethic. • Commitment to professional growth. • Commitment to the ideals of the profile of a graduate from a Carmelite/Franciscan tradition. • Bachelor's Degree and professional educator license with school support personnel endorsement for school counselor required • 2-3 years successful classroom teaching experience or counseling experience in a high school setting preferred.  College counseling experience preferred
