Duties

Instructional Leadership

  • Serve as the educational leader of the district, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all grades and content areas

  • Lead the implementation of curriculum and assessment systems that meet the needs of all learners

  • Promote instructional practices that are data-informed, inclusive, differentiated, and engaging

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs, staff, and instructional strategies

  • Support professional development for all staff aligned with the district’s vision and goals

  • Maintain knowledge of current educational research and best practices

Strategic Planning and Policy Development

  • Lead the implementation and ongoing review of the District’s 5-Year Strategic Plan

  • Recommend new or revised policies to the Board and ensure effective policy implementation

  • Monitor progress toward strategic goals in Teaching and Learning, Finance and Facilities, Technology, Human Relations, and Community Engagement

  • Establish systems of accountability and continuous improvement across departments

Board Relations

  • Serve as the chief advisor to the Board of Education on all matters related to district operations, teaching and learning, and governance

  • Prepare and present reports, data, and policy recommendations to support informed decision-making

  • Execute all Board policies and directives with fidelity and transparency

  • Participate in all Board and committee meetings except when the Superintendent’s employment is under discussion

  • Maintain clear, proactive, and respectful communication with the Board

Human Resources and Labor Relations

  • Recruit, hire, assign, evaluate, and support all district personnel in collaboration with appropriate administrators

  • Ensure all hiring and staff development practices promote equity and reflect the diversity of the Fairview community

  • Foster a professional culture of high expectations, accountability, and collaboration

  • Lead negotiations and labor relations with employee groups

  • Ensure compliance with personnel-related policies and legal requirements

  • Maintain staff morale through transparent leadership, clear expectations, and supportive feedback

Finance and Facilities Management

  • Oversee preparation of the annual operating budget and recommend its adoption to the Board

  • Ensure sound fiscal management, long-term financial sustainability, and efficient use of resources

  • Monitor revenues and expenditures to align with strategic goals

  • Lead the planning and implementation of facility improvements, capital projects, and maintenance efforts

  • Ensure safe, clean, and functional school environments for all students and staff

Technology and Innovation

  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of a balanced approach to technology integration

  • Promote healthy and ethical use of technology in support of academic success

  • Evaluate the impact of educational technology on student learning

  • Ensure the district remains up-to-date with evolving technology infrastructure, practices, and safety

Community Engagement and Public Relations

  • Build and sustain strong relationships with families, community organizations, elected officials, and local institutions

  • Serve as the public face of the district and promote a positive image of Fairview 72

  • Establish and maintain systems for timely, transparent, and inclusive communication with all stakeholders

  • Develop community partnerships that support the district’s mission and vision

  • Engage in community outreach efforts, including events, forums, and advisory groups

Operations and Compliance

  • Oversee all district operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and alignment with educational priorities

  • Serve as the district’s representative to local, regional, and state education bodies

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and reporting requirements

  • Coordinate transportation, nutrition, safety, and emergency preparedness systems

  • Maintain effective procedures for data privacy and cybersecurity

Leadership Development and Capacity Building

  • Support and mentor the administrative leadership team and promote leadership development at all levels

  • Cultivate a reflective and collaborative district culture focused on continuous growth

  • Encourage innovation and calculated risk-taking in pursuit of excellence

  • Set high standards for ethical leadership, equity, and student-centered practices

Qualifications

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Superintendent Endorsement

  • Completion of all required Illinois Administrative Academies

  • Doctorate in educational leadership or related field preferred

  • A minimum of five years in an educational leadership or administrative role

  • Demonstrated success as an instructional leader within a diverse community

Previous experience as a Superintendent or Central Office Administrator preferred

Salary/Benefits

$200,000 or commensurate with experience
