Duties

 

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum that promotes cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development for young children.
  • Create a safe, nurturing classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and learning through play.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of children's development and learning to inform instruction and communicate progress to families.
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and special needs.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with families through regular communication, conferences, and family engagement activities.
  • Collaborate with special education professionals, therapists, and other specialists to support children with diverse needs.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote positive behavior and social-emotional development.
  • Document children's learning through observations, work samples, and developmental checklists.
  • Integrate technology appropriately to enhance learning experiences while balancing screen time with hands-on activities.
  • Participate in professional development to stay current with best practices in early childhood education and special education.

 

Qualifications

  • A valid Illinois Professional Educator License with an endorsement in Early Childhood Ed. B-2 (Self Cont. Gen. Ed.) along with the Early Childhood Special Education Teaching endorsement (ECT). This endorsement is specific to the special education needs of students in the early childhood ages.
  • The ideal candidate will also have an LBS1 (K-12) endorsement (not required, but preferred).
  • We are open to educators who are willing to get a provisional endorsement (granting 3 years to complete the necessary coursework to earn this endorsement). 
  • Candidates with multiple endorsements will be given strong consideration, as these additional qualifications may enhance our ability to serve our student population.

Salary/Benefits

  • Per the current salary agreement.
  • Health insurance for the employee (single) is paid by the Board of Education at 90%.  
  • Health insurance for family coverage is paid by the Board of Education at 70%
  • $25,000 life insurance; other supplemental insurance and benefits solutions are available through the district’s supplemental benefit provider (American Fidelity)
