Duties

Reporting to the Executive Director, is responsible for the management and direction of the functions, programs and staff of the Wellness and Student Care department; provides leadership in cross-functional departmental work; integrates and executes the policies and expectations of the State Board of Education within the lens of providing equity for all students.

  • Under the direction of the Executive Director, coordinates and oversees the staff and functions of the Wellness and Student Care department including, but not limited to the following: student wellness, mental health programming, social and emotional learning, school health services, school nursing, after school programs, homeless education, trauma-informed programming, foster care, physical education and the survey of learning conditions.
  • Oversees and coordinates all aspects of grants and contracts for the Wellness and Student Care department.
  • Develops and manages budgets under the authority of the Executive Director.
  • Ensures that budget resources are aligned with agency goals, federal and state requirements, and incorporates outcome measurements.
  • In conjunction with the Executive Director, conducts the evaluation of staff performance within the department, including the development of staff goals, adherence to agency policies, state/federal guidelines, and fiscal accountability.
  • Develops and recommends programs, procedures and standards to ensure compliance with new or revised legislation and/or to improve the effectiveness of department programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in an Education field, Public Health, Health Education, Nursing, Public Administration, Political Science, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field, or, a Bachelor's degree in one of the listed areas plus two years of relevant professional experience. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
  • Minimum of five years experience (in addition to education requirements) working in public schools, a regional office of education, intermediate service center, or state education agency.
  • Experience working with grants.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing education.
  • Ability to manage grants.
  • Knowledge of the principles of program budgeting.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in developing, implementing and interpreting agency procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing.
  • Effective management of timelines.
