TITLE: Industrial Technology/Agriculture Education Teacher


SCHOOL YEAR:  2024-2025


LOCATION: Heritage High School-Broadlands


DUTIES: Heritage High School is seeking a full- time Industrial Technology/Agriculture Education teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. Courses to be taught could include: Architectural Drafting CAD, Communication & Energy Technology, Construction, Engineering Drafting CAD, Introduction to Drafting, Introduction to House Construction, Production & Transportation Technology, Welding Materials & Processing and Woodworking Materials & Processing.


QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must be licensed in the state of Illinois to teach Industrial Technology or Agriculture; have the ability to work well with administration, staff, students and parents; be a positive influence on students and staff; and have strong organizational skills. Accelerated CTE Licensure may be available through ISBE


SUPERVISOR: This position reports directly to the Building Principal.


JOB SUMMARY: Heritage High School has equipment, tools, and hardware in an expansive shop and CAD lab. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.


  • Develop a safe and engaging instructional environment that is conducive to learning.
  • Plan and prepare for instruction and adjust as needed.
  • Encourage students to excel academically and behaviorally. Report any concerns to the administrator.
  • Employ a variety of resources that meet the course guidelines to engage the learner.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Provide written and verbal feedback to students on progress on a consistent basis.
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board Policy.
  • Participate in staff meetings, department planning, and professional development
  • Collaborate with colleagues in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods.
  • Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others.



LICENSES/CREDENTIAL:  Valid Illinois Teaching Certificate/Licensure with the appropriate endorsements to teach at the secondary level.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Salary is based on a step placement which is determined by education, experience and the Heritage Education Association and Board of Education contract.


EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
