Duties
Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide observations, screenings, evaluations, and intervention to enhance a student’s level of communicative functioning in order for him/her to participate in the school
environment and ensure a free and appropriate public education to those students who are eligible.
Duties and Responsibilities: Identify, assess, and provide appropriate services for children with communication disorders in the following areas:
Phonological/articulation disorders
Language disorders
Stuttering/dysfluency
Feeding + Swallowing
Speech-language disorders resulting from hearing impairment
Speech-language disorders resulting from organic anomalies
Speech-language disorders secondary to a variety of diagnoses (ASD, Down Syndrome, ODD, etc.)
Participate in developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), including measurable goals and objectives for each student’s needs as applicable to the educational setting. Interpret test findings and make appropriate recommendations.
Establish and maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures. Participate in pre-referral and referral procedures as required by the District. Conduct comprehensive evaluations. Communicate effectively, both orally and in
writing, with other professionals, students, parents, and community agencies. Consult with teachers, parents, and other IEP committee members throughout the evaluation process. Model professional and ethical conduct at all times.
Participate in District department meetings of speech-language pathologists for the purpose of coordinating and improving the program and services to students. Provide make-up minutes district-wide for missed Speech-Language sessions.
Participate on the district summer evaluation team.
Qualifications
Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited educational Institution (required). Illinois Professional Educators licensure with Speech and Language Pathologist endorsement(s) (required).
Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA (preferred). Experience in public schools (preferred).

Work Schedule: 10 months / Full Time
