  • Services students in K-8th grade
  • Goals for therapy are clear and appropriate to the age/level of student
  • Demonstrates knowledge of resources for students available within and/or outside the district
  • Therapy sessions are aligned with IEP or RtI goals
  • Interacts positively and respectfully with students
  • Time is organized to maximize efficiency 
  • Screening procedures are established and communicated to staff and parents
  • Student behavioral expectations are made clear and the SLP redirects behavior, as appropriate, in a respectful manner
  • The therapy setting is well-organized with readily available materials
  • Responds to referrals for assessment in a timely manner
  • Provides revisions in therapy, as needed
  • Follows all state and federal guidelines regarding timelines, permission, and paperwork within the RTI and IEP process.
  • Collects all relevant data from which to base treatment plans, including classroom performance, performance in other school environments, and the home setting.  
  • Uses an effective data-management system for monitoring progress
  • Completes all required paperwork and follows procedures including attendance, student assessment, IEP development, lesson plans, and all other required forms, in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Works collaboratively with team members, district staff, parents, WCSEA staff, and members of the community, when applicable
  • Understands special education laws and procedures
  • Communicates frequently and sensitively with individual families and staff regarding students.
  • Actively participates in professional development that is based on self-assessment of need or the recommendation of their administrator.  
  • Follows ISBE code of ethics and displays professionalism, including confidentiality, at all times.   
  • Demonstrate willingness and ability to be a team member within the social work department by participating on committees, sharing knowledge, and engaging in problem solving
  • Displays a high level of ethics and professionalism at all times.  
  • Perform all other reasonable duties as assigned by Metamora Grade School administration or district administration and adhere to the mission of the district.


Illinois Professional Educator License - Teaching or Non-Teaching SLP
