Duties
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The Director of Instruction provides leadership at the district level to align curriculum implementation and continuous improvement, maximize the retention and capacity of highly-qualified teacher leaders, and promote high quality classroom instruction and equity across our system.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Instructional Coaches and Multi-Classroom Leaders.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. In addition to the requirements listed below, regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives, and parameters found in the Board’s strategic plan.
- Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
- Designs and coordinates professional learning for each teacher leader group with a focus on continuous improvement and equitable instructional practices in alignment with the curriculum, instructional shifts, and assessment practices of the district.
- Leads regular, recurring meetings with each supervised teacher leader group in order to create opportunities for targeted support, peer collaboration, and continuous improvement feedback related to the curriculum, instructional shifts, and assessment practices of the district.
- Facilitates conversations using classroom and district data to improve student learning.
- Collaborates with Curriculum Deans and Curriculum Implementation Leaders to establish and monitor horizontal and vertical alignment of curriculum implementation across all learning programs.
- Collaborates with school principals to conduct performance evaluations for Instructional Coaches and Multi-Classroom Leaders.
- Designs and implements various methods of data collection, analysis, and reporting for continuous improvement of programs and development opportunities.

- Proficiency in a variety of research-based instructional techniques and programs.
- Ability to effectively facilitate groups and work with adult learners.
- Proficiency in the administration and analysis of assessments and use of data to guide instructional practice and intervention.
