  • Direct the fiscal planning and budgeting process of the District.
  • Assists the Superintendent in the overall management of the school district.
  • Supervise the management of the financial affairs of the district.
  • Prepare, present, publish, and file the annual levy.
  • Manage District cash balances and investment funds.
  • Provide fiscal oversight and support for all federal and state grant funds.
  • Prepare and file the ISBE Annual Financial Report document.
  • Negotiate and manage the District liability, and property insurance plans.
  • Act as the general accountant of the Board and supervise the preparation of all accounts, vouchers and contracts relating to the schools and overall district operations.
  • Develop, manage and monitor budgets in all area of control, including analysis of budget expenditures and recommendations for ongoing operational effectiveness, ensuring fiscal integrity and compliance.
  • Prepare, present, publish, file and implement the District annual budget. Monitor the District’s performance against the budgetary plan.
  • Establish and supervise a program of accounting and reporting for financial affairs of the district including monthly and annual financial records as required.
  • Plan, direct, organize, coordinate, implement, monitor and manage business services programs, policies, and procedures for the following department/areas: finance, payroll, purchasing, insurance, food service, grants and transportation.
  • Oversee the tasks of business record-keeping and the operations of business services including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, budgetary reports, school activity funds, and related management information and data processing systems.
  • Provide counsel to administrators and responsible staff regarding fiscal and operational areas.
  • Prepare and deliver reports related to program effectiveness and monitoring. Ensure district compliance with state and federal laws and reporting requirements.
  • Actively participate in contract negations’ and provide data and resources for the negotiations process.


  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance related field.
  • Business, and/or education and related financial experience - two years
  • Building/district office administrative experience – two years
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial software systems, methods and techniques used in fund accounting and reporting, including use of accounting software (Microsoft Excel or similar) and database systems (SDS or similar), to ensure reporting methodologies that demonstrate statistical data in a user-friendly manner.


Twelve (12) month position

Salary to be determined annually by the Board of Education and be commensurate with work experience

20 vacation, 12 sick, and two personal days will be awarded each year, with no reporting on legal holidays which includes:

Additional Notes

The Business Manager is responsible for making fiscally responsible decisions and works closely with other school administrators.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate a history of strong leadership in finance and district operations; a thorough knowledge of finance law; working familiarity and experience with budgeting and forecasting; the ability to create positive working relationships with staff, and an understanding of and experience with State of Illinois systems and grant procedures.
