Duties

JOB DESCRIPTION: SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Speech-Language Pathologist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the Speech-Language Pathologist must work closely with the staff and administration of the school district.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid Illinois Certificate, Type 73, in Speech-Language Pathology
2. Knowledge of methods of assessment; systematic processes to collect data, translate assessment results into empirically based decisions about service delivery and evaluate outcomes of services.
3. Knowledge of language acquisition and development, appropriate interventions to meet students’ needs, and the ability to implement and assess their effectiveness.
4. Knowledge of collaborative and/or consultation models and methods and their application.
5. Knowledge of development and implementation of a multi-tiered system of supports.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Conduct speech-language assessments and interpret results within the timeframe of a case study evaluation.
2. Participate in IEP conferences, team meetings, and problem-solving meetings.
3. Draft and complete IEP paperwork for those students with only speech-language services/needs.
4. Provide individual and group therapy per IEP requirements.
5. Establish and maintain a system of referral for services that includes a continuum of service options for speech-language support.
6. Communicate and consult with staff in the implementation of appropriate interventions, IEP services, and accommodations for students with speech-language needs.
7. Evaluate and/or translate research into practice and understand research design and statistics in sufficient depth to plan and conduct investigations and program evaluations for improvement of services.
8. Contribute to program development that furthers the integration of communication skills in the classroom.
9. Provide support services to parents/guardians as needed.
10. Coordinate and/or collaborate with a range of individuals/agencies to promote and provide comprehensive services to students and families.
11. Provide and/or assist in professional development for staff, parents, and/or community.
12. Proficiently use technology to communicate, compile reports, and collect data.
13. Participate in building or program activities and meetings as appropriate.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assume appropriate roles as consultant, collaborator, presenter, and meeting facilitator.
2. Continue professional growth.
3. Assume other duties and special projects as assigned.
4. Support Indian Creek CUSD 425 policy, IDEA, and the school code of Illinois
