Duties

Job Summary: To maintain and process all payroll functions of the District

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Process semi-monthly payroll for over 850 employees
  • Reviews timesheets, wage computations and other information to ensure accuracy of employees’ paychecks
  • Maintain a complete and systematic set of records of all payroll and related financial transactions
  • Review and reconcile payroll reports
  • Maintain records of staff vacation, sick and personal leave, and unpaid leave of absences
  • Maintain and reconcile all voluntary deductions, including cancer, disability, 403(b) and 457 plans
  • Maintain records of child support and wage garnishments
  • Serve as the IMRF Agent for the district
  • Prepare/file and maintain all federal, state, IMRF and TRS reports including but not limited to 941’s and W2’s.
  • Perform general clerical duties, including sorting, filing, scanning, answering the telephone and responding to informational inquiries
  • Perform other related duties consistent with the position

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

          Education 

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred

          Experience 

  • Three years’ payroll experience, preferably in a school environment

          Knowledge

  • Basic methods, practices, and terminology used in payroll, fiscal, and financial record management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with a strong knowledge of Excel

  • Organize and prioritize to meet deadlines in a timely manner
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding staff records
  • Must multi-task and handle interruptions and have excellent time management skills
  • Work effectively and efficiently with a variety of personnel from diverse backgrounds
  • Must possess ability to handle conflict in a productive manner
  • Have enthusiasm and positive attitude
  • Have initiative in addressing work responsibilities

Evaluation:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of clerical personnel

Start Date:  ASAP

Employment Terms:  Twelve month, Fringe Benefits in accordance with provisions of the Urbana School District #116 Board of Education.
