(This position is grant funded.) The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has developed a Strategic Plan to focus our work for the next three years. Our Strategic Plan includes Goal 1: Student Learning, Goal 2: Student Conditions, and Goal 3: Elevating Educators, in addition to an equity goal. The P-20 Learning Renewal Guidance document has many valuable resources available for P-20 educational institutions. The statewide priorities include the following: High Impact Tutoring, Social Emotional Learning, Bridging from Pre-K to K, 8th to 9th and 12th to post-secondary institutions of higher learning, and finally, Interim Assessments. ISBE will support the P-20 Learning Renewal Initiative by creating positions to help coordinate, communicate and support ISBE’s Strategic Plan and the implementation of the Learning Renewal Statewide Strategies. Reporting to the Director of Early Childhood, this position will help communicate, coordinate and support ISBE’s Strategic Plan and the implementation of Bridging strategies for transitional grades in school districts across the state.

  • Provides communication, coordination and implementation in support of ISBE’s Strategic Plan in Goals 1, 2 and 3, under direction of the Director of Early Childhood.
  • Engages in internal and external stakeholder interactions through varied mediums including emails, calls, virtual and in-person meetings, etc.
  • Provides professional learning to ensure quality in the state’s Bridging/Transitioning Initiative in both Pre-K/K and high schools.
  • Supports programs’ efforts in developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood and increases awareness of post-secondary opportunities such as career and technical education, higher education, military and other work options.
  • Collaborates with community-based programs and school-based programs on transitions to community colleges and higher education institutions.
  • Manages programs to boost enrollment in Pre-K and K and transition support to high school seniors as they choose post-secondary opportunities.
  • Provides professional development opportunities of SEL in Pre-K, K and high school teachers.
  • Works with other ISBE P-20 statewide coordinators.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Three years of experience in project management.
  • Evidence of successful: management of complex, large-scale projects; communication skills - verbal and written; research-informed strategic planning; relationship building to drive results; systems thinking to promote success; personal organization and time management; collaborative work and consensus-building with others in a variety of positions and roles; completion of deliverables in high-pressure situations required. 
  • Education background.
  • Experience in a Pre-K – 12th grade school district.
