Duties

Position Summary

The Assistant Director of SEL and Culture and Climate works with the Director to provide expert guidance and professional learning in the areas of climate, culture, mental health, social emotional learning, and trauma informed practices. The Assistant Director is responsible for supporting staff and coaches in developing new relationships and partnerships with districts, schools, educational organizations, and non-educational organization to effectively address and build capacity for implementing strategies to mitigate the impact of emotional and behavioral health on student success. Duties may include, but are not be limited to: virtual learning, face-to-face workshops, blended learning training, PLC development, onsite visits, mentoring, school-wide assessments, and long-term planning. Supervises employees, consultants, and other personnel providing professional learning.

Specific Duties/Expectations

  1. Lead teams that will conduct assessments and develop an action plan based on data collected
  2. Coordinate, facilitate, and support professional learning opportunities for emotional and behavioral health, culture, climate, SEL and Trauma-informed practices (TIP) to local school districts, educational programs, and non-educational programs.
  3. Enhance and/or establish new partnerships with local, county, and state-wide organizations.
  4. Complete required training. 
  5. Implement systems for building capacity and expanding “sphere of influence” for all programs of development.
  6. Create, monitor, and keep detailed paper and digital records as appropriate for training.
  7. Create and/or monitor fiscally appropriate professional learning plans that ensure accurate invoicing.
  8. Supervises other employees, consultants, or providers of professional learning.
  9. Provide ongoing technical assistance.
  10. Maintains list of consultants.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director, Regional Superintendent, or designee
  12. Provide a quantitative and qualitative data driven summary to update on progress towards goals to the Hub Steering Committee. 
  13. Participate in monthly community of practice meetings to discuss progress.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  1. Education
    1. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, Master’s Degree preferred
    2. Valid Illinois teacher licensure
  2. Experience
    1. Experience in social emotional learning, professional development, or other similar background
    2. Prefered experience with adult learners 
  3. Specific Skills 
    1. Ability to differentiate instruction to a wide range of learners (academic and social emotional)
    2. Ability to work with a team
    3. Ability to work independently following program vision and goals
    4. Ability to multitask and manage time
    5. Accurate record keeping
    6. Knowledge of SEL related practices
    7. Knowledge of best practices for professional learning
    8. Knowledge of curriculum development
    9. Ability to effectively use computer based programs (MS Office, Google, etc.)
    10. Effective written and oral communication skills

Salary/Benefits

$75,000-$85,000 based on experience.

Full Time 220 Day Contract
