Duties

Purpose: The PT designs and performs therapeutic interventions, including compensation, remediation and prevention strategies and adaptations, focusing on functional mobility and safe, efficient access and participation in educational activities and routines in natural learning environments.

General Job DescriptionTo integrate each student into the school’s educational program as a means to enhance functioning and attain educational objectives.

  1. Assess student’s level of gross motor function and need for service.
  2. Provide physical therapy input to the team for developing individual educational programs (IEPs) for therapy.
  3. Teach parents, teachers, aides, or other appropriate personnel to implement motor programs.
  4. Monitor and evaluate therapy programs using observation, data and/or pre/post testing.
  5. Work cooperatively with teaching and support staff.
  6. Monitor and report student performance and progress.
  7. Attend staff meetings (as appropriate).
  8. Complete required reports such as IEP’s, 504’s, etc.
  9. Perform other tasks (as appropriate).
