Duties

Job Summary:
The Psychologist assigned to this program will consult with teachers, provide intervention support, meet with students to support their goals, conduct FBAs and create BIPs.

A.  Planning and Preparation
1. Demonstrates knowledge and skill in using psychological instruments to evaluate students
2. Demonstrates knowledge of age appropriate academic and behavioral expectations
3. Demonstrates knowledge of educational eligibility categories
4. Demonstrates knowledge of academic and behavioral interventions
5. Demonstrates knowledge of services/programs within the school and district

B.   PST//Therapeutic Environment
1. Promotes practices that support problem solving throughout the school
2. Establishes and maintains clear procedures for problem solving
3. Coordinates school-wide universal screening 
4. Active engagement in or facilitates problem solving (PST) meetings
5. Coordinates and Supports data collection/management for self contained special education program

C.  Instruction/Delivery of Service
1. Consults with teachers, administrators, and other school staff
2. Assesses student needs through the IEP evaluation process
3. Plans, evaluates or supports student progress in interventions
4. Compiles, analyzes, and communicates school-wide-data
5. Provides direct therpeutic services to students on caseload

D.  Professional Responsibilities & Personal Qualities
1. Communicates with families through evaluation and/or problem-solving processes
2. Maintains accurate records
3. Participates in professional development
4. Demonstrates professionalism including integrity, advocacy, and maintaining confidentiality
5. Establishes rapport with students and staff, using interpersonal skills
6. Produces well-written, clear and thorough reports

Qualifications

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with proper endorsement(s) - School Psychologist
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Appreciation of cultural diversity
  • Ability to effectively incorporate instructional technology
