CUSD #1 is looking for an Athletic Director that can also teach elective classes at the Jr-Sr high levels.  





POSITION TITLE: Athletic Director

REPORTS TO: Superintendent







The primary function of the Athletic Director is to manage and oversee the District's interscholastic athletic program and promotes the development of each student who participates in the program.



  1. Promotes a master budget and supervises equipment inventories.
  2. Prepares a master sports calendar that includes conference and non­ conference games/events.
  3. Coordinates gym, building and athletic use with the District Office and maintains the district building use calendar.
  4. Coordinates gym use for practices and games and gives final clearance for the use of either the gym or the athletic field.
  5. Coordinates the maintenance program for the facilities and fields (has knowledge of seeding, weeding, and lining) with advisement from the Superintendent and Maintenance staff.
  6. Verifies that each athlete has on file proof of insurance, a physical examination, a parental consent and emergency permission
  7. Works with coaching staff and transportation supervisor to schedule all athletic departure times.
  8. Coordinate the hiring and paying of officials, team physicians, athletic trainers, police officers and emergency personnell.
  9. Coordinates the scheduling of all athletic events. 
  10. Assumes overall responsibility for the proper supervision of home games, ticket sales, and the proper handling, and accounting of all monies involved.
  11. Assists in selecting, assigning, and evaluating coaching personnell.
  12. Assists in the planning and organizing of an annual recognition program for each sport for all school athletes.
  13. Maintains records of the results of all athletic contests and maintains a record file of all award winners, stating the date and type of award, including athletic scholarships.
  14. Oversees, and assists/coordinates and is responsible for the taking of all student eligibility.
  15. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of all staff members.
  16. Performs other duties consistent with the position as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
  17. Provides a safe environment for students and staff as per the Risk Management Plan.



  1. Previous experience with athletic programs and/or recreational programs. 
  2. Effective interpersonal and leadership skills.
  3. Experience facilitating communication between divergent groups and in group decision making.
  4. Effective administrative and management skills, including the effective utilization of computers, technology, and information management tools. 
  5. Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees, parents, and students.
  6. Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
  7. Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.  



The work hours for this position will vary based on season and scheduling.
