Through intentional, student centered academic and social emotional opportunities, recognition of diverse backgrounds, abilities, interests, and aspirations, the A.N.C.H.O.R. Academy supports students in developing core skills and strategies to be successful in the learning environment. The A.N.C.H.O.R. Academy teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated instruction in all core subject areas to students enrolled in an alternative education setting.  The teacher works collaboratively with related service providers, other teachers, administrators, and parents to develop a plan that addresses the student’s academic and social/emotional needs. The teacher utilizes paraprofessional support to implement personalized education and behavior plans designed to assist students in meeting their specific academic and social/emotional goals. The teacher maintains regular communication with the parent(s)/guardian(s), the principal, and the teachers from the home school with regard to the student’s progress.  


  • Current and valid  Illinois Professional Educator License with an elementary (K-9 or 1-6), middle school (ELA, math, social studies, and/or science), and LBS I endorsements.
  • Ability to assess the learning of students modify or enhance instruction as needed;
  • Ability to analyze various forms of data and use the information to make instructional decisions;
  • Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using standards-based varied teaching methods to address student learning styles;  
  • Knowledge of adolescent development, intervention techniques and behavior management strategies;
  • Able to work with a diverse student population and establish open and regular communication with families, administrators, teachers, and related service providers.  
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.




  • Starting salary of $43,209;
  • Salary is commensurate with education and experience and includes a competitive benefits package;
