Duties

The Business Service Representative (BSR) will work with the Principal to do assessment and intake of candidates into the WIOA program. The Business Service Representative will work with participants to provide support and ensure that they are meeting the WIOA program goals through the different phases of the program. The BSR will develop placement, internship and employment opportunities; meet with teachers to inquire about students’ academic progress and retention in school; submit monthly reports to the Lead Career Coach; maintain the (Career Connect program) Case Management of applicant records including intake application and eligibility documents, assessment/case plan, EEP, case notes, information and referral, supportive service requests, exit and follow up records; document all interactions with participants and maintain comprehensive files per COOK COUNTY WORKFORCE PARTNERSHIP requirements; enter and maintain data  in the COOK COUNTY WORKFORCE PARTNERSHIP system as required; analyze participants’ needs and provide supportive services, facilitating participants’ access to community resources; assist with the recruitment, assessment and placement of students for the program; interview and recommend students for admission to post secondary or employment; participate in the orientation of new students; plan for positive exits and follow up; assist with follow-up and evaluation of all enrolled students; oversee and maintain relationships with stake holders and employers; maintain appropriate records for the program; assist with field trips, including job shadowing and other career-focus activities; assist with college fairs; conduct outreach and interview potential participants; serve as a liaison with employers and facilitates job placement; assist the Director with ITA development; assist Student Support with summer internships; assist with pre post-secondary activities planning such as FAFSA and college visits; attend appropriate meetings and conferences to have up-to-date information on students' progress; meet with staff on a weekly basis to go over participants' progress and program needs; retention of participants placed into employment; provide support for retention of participants placed into college; help in job readiness training in conjunction with the Student and School Support Director; and; performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or 4 yrs of experience working with diverse student population
  • Knowledge of Department of Labor policies and regulations as related to Workforce Investment Opportunity Act
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of school code and school compliance regulations
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Knowledge of computer programming and data management systems
  • Available for on-call duties as needed
