Duties

The Staff Development Coordinator II will provide professional development to campus teacher teams in a variety of curriculum areas. This position will assist in gathering and analyzing reading and math data to implement effective teaching strategies to increase student achievement; consults frequently with classroom teachers on matters relating to curriculum and instruction using our progress-monitoring instrument as a base; designs interventions and help teachers write competency based instructional plans detailing methods to be implemented to increase student achievement; assists in the evaluation of ongoing professional development and make recommendations for building teacher capacity; assists teachers and other administrators and/or supervisors in implementing the school reading program; Help teachers diagnose reading strengths and weaknesses and match these skills with appropriate reading interventions; keeps the teachers informed of students’ instructional plans; works with support staff and school administrators to facilitate the coordination of targeted professional development; consults with curriculum committees to implement reading and writing across the curriculum; works with classrooms teacher and network personnel to coordinate instruction designed to meet the individual needs of students; works with classrooms teacher to monitor student progress; models Effective instructional strategies; and; provides additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in education from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in working with at risk youth
  • Alternative School Experience preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of professional development experience
  • Demonstrated experience training and development of teachers
  • Familiar with the MTTS process and Tier’d Instruction
