Evanston/Skokie School District 65 is searching for its next Superintendent of Schools. The Board
seeks an innovative and progressive leader who will help our nationally-recognized District advance
its commitment to improving educational outcomes for all children by eliminating racial predictability

birth through grade 8 and their families. Evanston is a growing and diverse suburban/urban

Superintendent and a seven-member elected Board of Education and employs over 1,400 dedicated

Qualifications: The Evanston/Skokie School District 65 Board of Education seeks a forward-thinking
superintendent who is an innovative, collaborative leader with a demonstrated ability to carry forth the
educational and administrative goals of the District along with meeting the exemplary leadership
expectations of the Board. A successful candidate should demonstrate past leadership success in a
suburban/urban setting with a diverse student population and community and have knowledge of and
experience in promoting culturally responsive pedagogy and racial equity. Successful candidates will
illustrate a commitment to collaboration with the School Board, staff, and community; will be visible
throughout the schools and community; and will leverage a positive working relationship among the
School Board, city and state government, local stakeholders, and an engaged community.
The Board seeks a Superintendent who will provide dynamic leadership to advance District Goals:

  1. A strong commitment to racial/ethnic equity and to identifying and addressing practices,
    policies, and institutional barriers, including institutional racism, that perpetuate opportunity and
    achievement gaps.
  2. The ability to create a culture of collaboration, transparent communication, and trust that
    authentically engages and partners with staff, families, and other stakeholders to increase
    student achievement, with a particular focus on increasing outcomes for historically
    marginalized groups.
  3. A commitment to creating intellectually and socially safe school climates that support
    cognitively rigorous and culturally responsive instructional practices as well as restorative
    practices for children and adults.
  4. The ability to creatively and thoughtfully engage in long-term financial planning to ensure the
    appropriate funding for the instructional priorities and capital needs of the District.

Salary for the successful candidate will be nationally competitive. Final salary and benefits for the
successful candidate will be negotiated and determined based upon experience, qualifications, and
