Join our close knit staff in serving approximately 330 students in grades 4-8. The social worker at Kelvin works closely with the building administrator to develop and execute a plan for social emotional support of all students. This includes the delivery of Tier 1 prevention lessons throughout the building (we use Second Step and a mindfulness curriculum). The social worker also collaborates on the building level RTI/MTSS team and provides Tier 2 and 3 services (group and individual) to identified students. Also at the heart of the position is the delivery of training and resources to caregivers; the social worker serves as the liaison between home and school. As a part of this role, the social worker may provide parental education and consultation as appropriate in relation to the child’s goal areas. Our school is looking for a candidate with a huge heart for kids as well as a desire to identify and remediate problems in the school and community that relate to the general welfare of students. Doing so will require engaging with community resources to meet the needs of children.  The social worker will also maintain an IEP/504 caseload. This will include: conducting social developmental studies and other measures as needed for case study evaluation, creating goals for students with IEPs and developing plans for service. The social worker will also provide consultation and in-service training experiences to school personnel and assist school personnel in developing programs to meet the unmet needs of students. The professional must also stay apprised of current rules and regulations as well as developments in the fields of special education and social work.

Master's Degree in School Social Work, holds standard Illinois Certificate for School Social Worker registered with ISBE.

Salary and benefits will be in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Lockport District 91 Board of Education and the Lockport District 91 Teachers' Association.
