Provides truancy intervention/prevention to at risk students.  Provides parental/guardian support, classroom support to select students at risk.  Works directly with students, families, staff and appropriate social service agencies to improve students’ school and home behavior to increase school attendance and functioning. Arranges special events to help motivate students. Effective oral and written communication and problem solving skills; strong interpersonal skills; ability to analyze and synthesize data; dependability; ability to relate to youth, families and community agencies/departments; ability to work independently and as an active team member; demonstrates maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences in children, staff, and families served; ability to handle job related matters in a professional, diplomatic and confidential manner; has advanced knowledge that comes with relevant experience in the field of child welfare.


Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education or related field preferred or a Teacher Assistant Certificate and 3 years of classroom experience; as well as experience working with emotionally and/or behaviorally disturbed youth and their families
