*Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech/language improvement. *Provides a therapeutic program to meet the individual needs of speech, and language disabled children.

*Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified students with speech and language impairments.

*Provides screening to identify speech concerns at regular intervals and at specified levels.

*Provides a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, fluency and language impairments.

*Knowledge of IEP policy and procedures, competence with IDEA rules/regulations along with ability to complete paperwork appropriately & efficiently.

*Provides appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual students' needs that correct existing speech and/or language disabilities.

*Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy in the student's daily activities.

*Ability to communicate effectively with parents, staff and administration along with being able to provide information and when appropriate.  

*Keeps thorough ongoing data records of student therapy sessions and other school provided speech services.

*Maintains lists of referred, screened, and eligible students.

*Assumes responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies and materials.

*Attends and participates in special education parent meetings as requested.

*Performs such other duties as assigned by the Principal, Director of Special Education, or Superintendent.

*Guards the confidentiality of all information placed in charge of this therapist.

*Problem solving team member

*Develop and implement Tier 1 activities to support speech & language and literacy development

*Knowledge with assistive technology devices

*Provide co-treatment with other related services providers whenever appropriate

*Collaboration for the integration of S/L services into the general education curriculum whenever appropriate


Must have a current and valid Illinois PEL with Speech/Language Pathology endorsement
