Duties

Job Description:

  • Knowledge of restorative practices
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment providing responsive instructional and behavioral support to assigned student(s) in the general education setting
  • Knowledge of positive behavior and intervention strategies to motivate students
  • Ability to effectively communicate with teachers, parents, and administration
  • Assist student(s) with classroom activities under the direction of certified teacher
  • Assists with instructional modifications recommended by planning team
  • Checks notebooks, and supervises testing and make-up work relevant to assigned student(s)
  • Participates in appropriate staff development programs
  • Assists teacher in duties related to the supervision of lunchroom, and bus activities
  • Assists with the behavioral management system under the direction of the teacher
  • Provide supervision for students who are assigned to the In-School Suspension classroom
  • Take daily attendance
  • Review in-school suspension policies, procedures and student expectations with students daily
  • Work with students and or other staff members during student reflection period on issues such as behavior management and the prevention of undesirable behaviors that resulted in student being assigned to ISS
  • Monitor all ISS assignments; provide encouragement and feedback to students, monitor tests, computer work and provide instructional assistance as appropriate
  • Ensure students have security escorts to lavatory facilities
  • Email teachers 24 hours in advance for work requests and complete student Work Completion Logs for all students assigned to the room
  • Facilitate and arrange delivery of student lunches when necessary
  • Refer behavior problems to Assistant Principal
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor/designee
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

Qualifications: Experience working with children and youth preferred. Bilingual preferred but not required. Endorsements: Paraprofessional certification registered with ISBE required

Salary/Benefits

Per negotiated agreement.
