Duties
The Physical Education (PE) Teacher at Kiefer School is responsible for planning, coordinating and leading the physical education classes for all of Kiefer School. The PE teacher plays a critical role in providing social skill opportunities for each student in their daily programming, serving as role models. A PE Teacher must not only provide for the development of the physical needs of students, but also provide opportunities for social skills and behavioral improvements as well.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education with a teaching license endorsed for Physical Education - Experience working with special education students or students exposed to trauma is preferred - Experience with an adaptive physical educational program preferred - Ability to relate effectively to children and their parents - Maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences in students, families served, and staff members - Effective Written and oral communication skills - Ability to work independently and within a treatment team - Ability to handle job related matters in a professional, diplomatic, and confidential manner - Ability to use computer technology effectively - Hearing and speaking ability which allow for effective communication of information - Knowledge of childhood trauma.
