Duties
The School Social Worker provides needs-based behavioral and social-emotional services to the students, parents, and faculty/staff of a school. The role includes, but is not limited to, individual and group counseling with students; direct and indirect consultation with students and teachers; assessment, behavior planning and intervention implementation and monitoring; and universal screening/prevention of behavioral & social-emotional concerns.
The School Social Worker hired for this position will assist teachers in development and implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MtSS) social/emotional interventions, and may provide some school-wide SEL programming and parent outreach. The School Social Worker will function as a member of the District’s Student Services Team and fulfill the requirements of the role as stated in Rules and Regulations for Special Education. The School Social Worker will integrate D90 practices around equity and inclusivity into daily work and relationships with students, families, and colleagues. They will also attend to other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education, Building Principal, or Superintendent.
Qualifications
a) Valid State of Illinois Professional Educator License
b) Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) preferred
c) At least three years of successful School Social Work experience preferred.
